Contains Eggs 🥚 | TIME: 2h | Contains Dairy & Gluten

Making the perfect moist chocolate cake couldn't be any easier with this amazing chocolate cake recipe!

THIS RECIPE YIELDS:

This recipe is good for about 1.5kgs (around 3lbs) of cake and when you add your frosting over it, it will be well over 2kgs! Or you could split the batter into two cake tins for two awesome cakes!

TIME REQUIRED:

Mixing Ingredients: 15 minutes

Bake time: 40 minutes

Cooling time: 1 hour

TOTAL TIME: 2hours

Ingredients:

  • 2 Cups of all purpose flour (maida / white flour)

  • 2 Cups of Sugar

  • 2/3rd Cups of Cocoa Powder

  • 2 Teaspoons of Baking Powder

  • 1.5tsp (One and a half) Teaspoons of Baking Soda

  • 1 teaspoon of Coffee Powder

  • 1 teaspoon of Salt

  • 1 cup of Milk

  • ½ a Cup of vegetable oil - I’m using refined sunflower oil

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla essence

  • 2/3rd cup of hot water

Instructions:

You’ll need two bowls for this recipe.

  • Step 1 - In one bowl combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix them all together nicely.

  • Step 2 - In another bowl, take the sugar, milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla essence and mix them all together nicely. You can mix them till the wet ingredients are just combined - you don’t have to worry about the sugar dissolving at this point.

  • Step 3 - Add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix them up nicely - you can use a whisk to do this by hand, or you can use a stand mixer or hand mixer - whatever you have at your disposal. But really this recipe is SO EASY, you could literally say that it is just a whisk away!

  • Step 4 - Lastly, mix the coffee powder into the hot water and add this into your batter. Mix it well, till you get a nice glossy consistency. Remember, this cake batter is going to be very liquidy - that’s normal - don’t worry about it. It’s gonna result is the most moist and spongy chocolate cake ever!

  • Step 5 - Prepare a large baking tin and line it with some parchment paper.

  • Step 6 - Next, prepare the sides, and then it’s time to pour in the batter!

  • Step 7 - Once you’ve poured the batter in, bake your cake for 30 to 40 minutes at 170°C or until a wooden toothpick comes out clean!

  • Step 8 - Let your cake cool down for about an hour.

You can enjoy this cake as it is, or you can decorate it with some frosting or ganache.
